Library Cards

Who is eligible for a Wood-Ridge Library card?

If you live in Wood-Ridge or own property in Wood-Ridge, you are eligible for a card.  We require one proof of Wood-Ridge residency as follows:

  • NJ Driver’s License with your Wood-Ridge address
  • Property tax bill
  • Utility bill (water, electric)
  • Telephone bill
  • Lease, if renting

Can a child have a library card?

Yes.  Children from the age of 5 to 17 may have a card.  A parent/guardian must come in to obtain a card for their child.

What else should I know about my card?

You may use your card in the Wood-Ridge Library or in any of the other libraries in the BCCLS consortium.  With the opening borrowing sticker on the back of the card, you may also use your card in certain libraries in LMxAC (Middlesex County), MAIN (Morris County), PALS (Passaic County), and SWELL (Sussex and Warren Counties).  See the BCCLS website (www.BCCLS.org) for further information.

We will also request items that we do not own to be shipped from another BCCLS library to Wood-Ridge for your use. Ask at the circulation desk or you may submit requests on-line at http://web22.bccls.org/web2/tramp2.exe/do_keyword_search/guest.

Your library card will expire in 3 years.  At that time you will need to bring your card to the library with proof of residency.  All fines must be paid before the card will be renewed.

If you lose your card, there is a $3.00 replacement fee.  You are responsible for any fines or items checked out on you card and those fines must also be paid before a replacement card is issued.

Moonachie residents may also obtain a Wood-Ridge Library card.

To do so, they must go to their Boro Hall and request an application letter for a library card.  They must specify whether they want a card in Wood-Ridge or Little Ferry or Hackensack.  Moonachie requires their residents to pay a portion of the fee charged by the lending library.  At this time the fee for a Wood-Ridge card is $60.

An adult head of household should bring the letter to the Wood-Ridge Library and one card will be issued for use by all family members for the period of 1 year.  The card may be used exclusively in the Wood-Ridge Library for Wood-Ridge materials.  At the end of the year, a new application letter must be obtained and brought to the Wood-Ridge Library with your library card.  Any fines accrued on the card must be paid before the card is renewed.
